Last Night, We Had Burgers

Last night, we had burgers…this is a big deal. First, it was cool and dreary all day with a light rain. Not your ideal grilling weather. Second, Roadie #1 said she wanted a burger.

Do you not understand how big this is?! All she eats is chicken fingers and fries for lunch and dinner. What about breakfast you ask? Chocolate Goldfish. Now, she does not eat them, but she asks for Chocolate Goldfish…every.morning. So when she asked for a hamburger, I don’t care if the zombie apocalypse is happening, I’m cooking a burger.

Now on a funny note, Roadie #1 saw that the Groupie Wife had brought home some fresh avocados. “WOW!” she said as she reached for one. Before I could stop her, she grabbed up an avocado and took a honkin’ bite out of it. So guess what we had ON the burgers.

When it comes to grilling, the weather never stops me. It could be raining, snowing, or my yard could have a chipmunk infestation (which would be the cutest infestation in history), I would still make the trek to the grill.

So last night, that’s what we had. Grilled burgers with sliced avocados and chips. We sat out on the back porch and enjoyed a nice family dinner. There was no TV, no cell phones, no distractions. Well, except my roadies trying to color our porch with magic markers.

It’s times like that that I cherish, and how wonderful it is that food plays such a huge part on keeping our family close. I hope the same for you. As always, thanks for reading and keep on rockin’.
